Windows Installation
- Compare the downloaded file's SHA-256 with the exact release evidence above
- Run the downloaded file and confirm Windows displays CN=Shadi Hadi Jabbour, O=Shadi Hadi Jabbour, L=Raleigh, S=nc, C=US as the publisher
- For the installer, choose your installation directory or use the default location
- Click "Install" for the installer build, or launch the native executable directly
- Launch "DotaSense" from your Start menu or desktop shortcut
- Configure your preferences and start using the timer overlay

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I download DotaSense?
Download the Windows installer, then compare its exact file size and SHA-256 before opening it. Builds marked pending are not advertised until their release artifacts pass verification.
Why does security software flag PowerShell during installation?
The installer uses PowerShell for the optional Voice Relay virtual microphone driver (VB-CABLE in the current release). If that step is blocked, DotaSense still installs and its core timer works. You can repair Voice Relay later from Settings. Please send support the detection name and script path shown by your security software; you do not need to disable protection to use the core timer.
Is DotaSense safe and allowed by Valve?
DotaSense is a simple overlay that puts timers and reminders over your game. Its normal features use screenshots of what you can see, match data Dota shares with apps, and saved timing and build information. They do not read hidden game data or inject code. Valve makes the final policy decisions; its 2023 ban-wave post described software that read hidden information from inside Dota.
What are the system requirements?
Available now: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), 4GB RAM, 300MB disk space.
Pending: macOS and Linux builds are not currently downloadable.
Do I need to update the app manually?
A running DotaSense app checks for updates and can download and install them automatically. Some v1.4.41 installations fail to open before the updater runs. If yours does, download and run the current Windows installer once to recover.
Can I use the timer on multiple monitors?
Yes! The overlay supports multi-monitor setups perfectly. You can position the timer overlay on any connected monitor while playing Dota 2 on another. The overlay will stay on top and remain visible across all your displays.
Is there a browser or mobile timer?
Yes. Use the free manual browser timer for Standard or Turbo cues, optional sound, and manual Roshan and Aegis tracking—no install or account required. It does not connect to Dota 2. There is no native mobile app; the responsive timer can open on mobile, but background audio is not guaranteed. The Windows app adds an always-on-top overlay, global hotkeys, and automatic timer sync.
How do I uninstall the app?
Windows: Go to Settings → Apps → DotaSense → Uninstall.
Mac: Remove DotaSense from Applications.
Linux: Delete the downloaded AppImage and any desktop shortcut you created.
Is the app really free? Are there hidden costs?
The core timer is free to download and use, with no ads and no required account. Optional Pro Monthly and Pro Annual subscriptions unlock power-user saved-profile and draft picker workflows.
Can I customize the timer sounds?
Yes! The app includes several built-in alert sounds, and you can also upload your own custom audio files. You can set different sounds for different events (stacks, runes, Roshan, etc.) and adjust the volume for each independently.
Does the app work while Dota 2 is in fullscreen?
The overlay works best when Dota 2 is in borderless window mode. For fullscreen mode, you can use the audio alerts and hotkeys to control the timer. We recommend using borderless window mode for the optimal experience with the overlay visible.
Where can I report bugs or request features?

Is my data collected or shared?
The core timer stores settings locally and does not require an account. Optional online features such as premium licensing, subscriptions, analytics controls, collaboration, and update checks may connect to backend services.
